Professional experience: Horticulturist, educator, designer, retailer…Wayne brings an innovative approach to gardening. His enthusiasm and passion for plants is evident through his landscape designs and educational seminars. Wayne’s background includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Landscape Management Design from Purdue University. He is also an Indiana Master Accredited Horticulturist, past President and current board member of Northwest Indiana Nursery & Landscape Association, and instructor at Mittal Steel.
Wayne is a national speaker with horticulture experience spanning 30 years. Locally, he has been teaching classes and conducting seminars as a former Continuing Education Instructor at Indiana University (1995-2000) and as a current Course Instructor at Joblink (1996-present).
Wayne is also an instructor of American Social Ballroom & Latin Dancing for the past 19 years. He has performed for over 40 functions and has taught classes for both Mittal Steel (1997 to present) and independently under the direction of Helen Casamassa (1991 to present).
In 2001, Wayne, along with family, friends, and volunteers, started Gardens on the Prairie in rural Lowell, Indiana. With the help of a committed staff, Gardens on the Prairie is growing into a gardening destination for creative enthusiasts. The garden center was presented with the Indiana Nursery & Landscape Association Garden Center Green Excellence Award in 2003. Now in its 9 th year, Gardens on the Prairie is taking Horticulture to new levels with beautifully designed gardens and cutting edge, NEWquality nursery stock. |
