Robert and Marlene Smith teach a variety of classes for the Leon Lynch CDP.  Marlene is a retired public school teacher and is best known for her Organization class and Strength Empowerment course.  She is currently preparing a time management class.  Robert is a grant writer and so specializes in grant and fundraising classes but also leads communication seminars such as Communicating with Difficult People: Stopping the Goat Getters.  He teaches for-credit classes through Ivy Tech Community College which are offered to steelworkers as shadow classes.  This includes a college preparation class that runs each summer.  As an ICD program specialist for more than a dozen years, Robert was an aid to the Local Joint Committee as it planned its first courses and created its learning center.  Both Marlene and Robert have taught for Michigan State University and Western Michigan University among other schools.
